When the rains fall
Do you enjoy the rains?
I know I do.
It's like nature getting its own personal annual wash! Everything scorched with the summer heat sighs a sigh of relief with the rains. All shades of fresh and green are indeed a sight for sore eyes. Talk about washing away the old, making way for the new!
Sometimes I wish life were so. Everyday a new leaf, a chance to erase the past and write a new story. But is it? Often times we find the mistakes of today affecting tomorrow, actions or words we seldom think over bearing consequences down the line, and many times we end up reaping what we hardly remember sowing in the first place.
What if there were a way to start anew? Would you take that chance?
This is exactly what Jesus Christ offered at Calvary 2000 years ago. He says come as you are, and exchange your old lives for the new. All our burdens, sicknesses, mistakes and faults have already been borne at the Cross. But it is a gift - one we choose to accept or just to look at from a distance is entirely our choice. What would you choose today?
I took up that chance at new life and I am a new creation indeed. Just like the rains, His living waters flow to cleanse every nook and cranny of our characters and short-comings. Doesn't mean we never get muddy ever again. Rather, someone to stand with us and keep saying in a still small voice that it's okay, try once again, you'll get it right. Someone to keep reminding us to be better today than we were yesterday. Someone to help us through the downs and guide us in the ups. Someone to show us the silver lining around every dark, gloomy cloud.
So how about a shower of that refreshing rain today?
Try it. You'll love the feel of His love as it washes your worries away.
Here's hoping you'll enjoy the rains as much as I do!
