Finished
“It is finished”.
Wow. Look at the authority, the finality, the declaration of a life well-lived.
Today, if we look at our own lives, can we firmly say that yes, we are heading in that direction?
Purpose. And will. Two very important concepts. Most of us spend half of our lives fumbling around to find what in the world am I here for? Am I doing things right? Is it all going according to plan? Well, just ask the Potter. I don’t think He made us a specific way and placed us in this specific point of the timeline just randomly you know. “He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it in you”. The Creator of the whole universe, has enlisted His help for us. Guaranteed.
Check out what Jesus says in John chapter 17. “I have finished the work which You have given me to do”. How was He so certain? Let’s see Matthew chapter 26. “Nevertheless, not My will but Yours be done”. In short, Jesus knew His purpose had been completed, because He knew it was within God’s will.
A little something from I Timothy. “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Faith. Substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen. It wasn’t the Romans, or the Jews, or even the nails which kept Jesus on the cross. During the betrayal, He says that if He asks His Father, He’ll provide more than 12 legions of angels. That’s like,12 times 6,000! In spite of having all the power in the world, He endured the cross. As Isaiah rightly says in chapter 53, it pleased God to bruise Him, for us. For our salvation. For He loved us. Inexplicable, unconditional love.
Keep going.
And do not give up.
Know your purpose, accept His will.
It will be finished. Someday.
